Thank You…
…to everyone who showed up and spoke out at the recent EdTech Listening Sessions. Regions West, East & North each had a whopping 70+ fired-up participants. Pair that with the ten members of Schools Beyond Screens who testified at November’s school board meetings (watch here) and we’re sending a resounding message to the district: GET BIG TECH OFF KIDS’ DESKS.
What’s Next
If you can believe it, there are four more meetings on special topics related to classroom tech next week. These are scheduled twice a day, on consecutive days, at wildly confusing times. (An "Equity & Access" discussion at 9:00 am on a Wednesday… ) The district is hoping nobody will show up. We need to prove them wrong. Please add these dates to your calendar.
*And don’t forget our cheatsheet of Questions & Concerns About EdTech in LAUSD!
Send This!
We've drafted a template letter for everyone to send to the school board & superintendent. Please copy, paste, adapt & personalize it however you wish. Just make sure you insert your name and school info where indicated. Let’s flood their inboxes next week. (Our proposals, which we've already shared with district leadership, are posted on our website.)
We’ve got a newly expanded leadership team, incredible momentum, and some ambitious plans for the new year. Until then, you can find us…
Sharing our opinions at the EdTech meetings next week, and via the hilariously biased LAUSD survey!
Chatting it up in the SBS WhatsApp!
Hiding the Chromebooks for the holiday weekend!
Having conflict-free Thanksgiving discussions about how the tech companies are destroying education! (It may be the last bipartisan issue.)
