Why are kids spending their school days on screens?

Take Action

Do NOT consent to Google EdTech

Do NOT sign the new Google Parental Consent form provided by the district, which allows Google to harvest student data and sell it to undisclosed third parties. Withholding consent is your right, and reduces the chance your child will waste class time watching YouTube.

Create an SBS chapter at your school

Creating a local Schools Beyond Screens chapter for your school brings your students into the conversation in a real way.

Numerous studies have shown the benefits of learning on paper vs on screens, and yet LAUSD continues to waste millions on new EdTech products with little-to-no oversight or evidence for their effectiveness.

About us

We are a grassroots group of parents & teachers in the Los Angeles Unified School District, fighting back against Big Tech in our classrooms.

We're not Luddites, but the research is clear: too much screen time in school is detrimental to learning, exposes kids to inappropriate content, and infringes on privacy rights.

It's time for LAUSD to listen to the experts and develop a more responsible approach to using tech in schools.
