Personal Electronic Device Policy
In July 2025, Governor Tina Kotek released Executive Order No. 25-09 which requires that all Oregon school districts have a policy in place that restricts the use of personal electronic devices from the start of regular instructional hours to the end of regular instructional hours.
Beaverton School District requires students to “pack or park” personal electronic devices during the school day, including cell phones, smartwatches, earbuds, and personal devices. The policy aims to reduce distractions and support student focus, but district-issued technology and screen use remain a separate—and important—part of the conversation.

"I have the right to an education that is as good or better than that of the generation before me. The nature of my education should not change rapidly in response to trends, but rather should equip me with perennial skills like problem-solving, resilience, attention, and creativity."
